JEMA's Recent Activities and Events
- One of our most important activities is improving medical treatment so
that we can keep up with the US & European countries
-The promotion of low-dosage contraceptive pill therapy ( with correction
of GnRHa abuse)
*Since 1996, we have participated in five related medical conferences to
speech ,discuss and hand out report, etc.
Since the beginning of the 21st century, among other projects supported
by us are educating even MDs specializing in endometriosis the effectiveness
of pill treatment, and informing patients or society these options by our
newsletter or website.
*Low-dose pills were not approved until September 1999 in Japan.
GnRHa was used repeatedly (2-3 times those of US/EU).
And we have negotiated with MHLW for introduction of contraceptive pill
in collaboration with various women's organizations and female Diet members.
*After September 1999, the use of pills have not spread because MDs hesitated
to prescribe pills without insurance coverage, and with lack of knowledge
and experiences they even did not recommend to patients.
And so in the autumn of 2002, we undertook project for applying the health
insurance coverage with endometriosis.
*At the end of 2002, we made the first following written request to MHLW:
supplemental NDA to low-dose pills, introduction of new pills, GnRHa abuse
correction.
*Since 2003, we have been in full cooperation with Nobelpharma Co.,Ltd's
clinical development of Ortho M for endometriosis.
The product was submitted to MHLW for approval in October 2006.
*At the same time, Nihon Schering KK (a subsidiary of Schering AG) have
started to develop YAZ, the super-low-dosage contraceptive pill for dysmenorrhea
in Japan.
They are working on Phase 3 study.
*In March 7th of 2005, we made the second written request to MHLW, as world
cooperation awareness in March.
We discussed with MHLW staff, and petitioned to a female Diet member of
Democratic Party .(her remarks are effectively made in Parliament the following
month).
*In March 7th of 2006, we made the 3rd written request to MHLW and discussed
with
